What are the benefits?

Continuing to stay active as you age is essential in improving quality of life and overall longevity. We understand that our body undergoes changes with age which may require some special considerations:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Prevent loss in bone density. Learn exercises to help strengthen the bones and decrease the risk of fractures.

  • Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis occurs due to wear and tear on the joints over the years. Your FlexIt trainer will offer alternatives that work for your body now.

  • Balance Issues
  • Changes in the nervous system and overall decreased activity can negatively impact your balance. Practice and improve your balance to prevent falls; these can be devastating to the body.

  • Other health considerations
  • Your body has endured a lot over the years, and with that comes some factors which may make exercising a bit more complex. Trust in our trainers to guide you safely.

Does it work?

Here is what one of our senior users thinks:

"Go FlexIt, GO!"

At 70 you can never do enough to stay fit, and in the past it has been difficult to find exercises that work for me due to my history of foot and low back injuries. When I started with FlexIt in September 2020, my goal was to improve my core strength, and Helen convinced me quickly to add balance as an important goal. With her and FlexIt's help, I've made a lot of progress on both goals.

Pilates Equipment

What equipment do I need?

You can do your session with no equipment at all, but if you want some available to easily progress your exercises we suggest:

  • Resistance bands
  • Bands can easily be used to increase resistance.

  • Dumbbells
  • Using dumbbells will help you gain muscle and assist in loading and strengthening the bones.

  • Stretching Strap
  • Having a stretching strap makes it easy for you to perform full body stretches and improve flexibility.

  • Balance Cushion
  • Exercises with a balance cushion that can help prevent the occurrence of falls.
